David and I would like to thank you and your staff very much for the superb lunch and service you gave our guests on Sunday. We have received many complimentary comments which we pass on to you! We were blessed with wonderful weather which added to the occasion, as well as "friends and family reunited", many of whom had not seen each other for many years. Together with the delicious food, it all went to make a very memorable occasion.
Your staff were excellent, greeting our guests with a welcoming drink. Needless to say, two bottles of Pimms were found when we emptied the chiller wagon - if only Alastair had found it on the day! Ah well. I don't think all our guests realised coffee was available. The strawberries have been duly frozen and will make wonderful jam when I have time.
I must just tell you about two "uninvited guests". I noticed a couple arrive and receive their Pimms and thought I don't know who they are - I must ask David before I embarrass myself by not recognising them. However, David didn't know who they were either. On investigation it turned out that they had been heading for Beth Chatto Gardens and were redirected because of road works. They knew that Open Farm Sunday was on so thought we were taking part. I'm not sure all farms participating in Open Farm Sunday offered Pimms to their guests! They duly drank their Pimms and set off!! It caused us a great deal of giggles, as you can imagine.
I have the two pink napkins and one white napkin which I was planning to post back to you, but if you are passing and are able to return the small wellington boot at some time, then we will keep the napkins here.
Once again, many thanks for helping to make a wonderful day for us.
